Slimming Down Your Look

  1. Dressing from head to toe in one colour.
  2. Go for clothes that drape the body. To downplay a double chin, wear a V neck and keep the colour away from the chin. For instance, a turtle neck top will only draw attention to this area and make your face look wider.
  3. Keep your overall look simple, avoid large pockets and buttons.
  4. A statement piece of jewellery is wonderful, however a piece too small on a bigger woman will make her look bigger. If you are unsure, avoid jewellery that’s too bulky or too small.

TOP HEAVY

  1. Wear loose fitting tops that slim down to clinch the waist.
  2. Always wear a V neck.
  3. Choose long jackets that do not have shoulder pads.
  4. Try a knee length skirt pleated or patterned to bring the eye down to your lower half.

BOTTOM HEAVY

The key to dressing a bottom heavy figure is balance. Get this right and you will never struggle again with style.
  1. Wear a top or jacket with small shoulder pads.
  2. Limit prints to the upper part of your body only.
  3. Look for jackets, dresses or suits with straight classics cuts.
  4. Long fitted tunic tops are always a great option.

Curvy midriff or fuller around the middle.

  1. Look for loose fitting tops with slim fitting sleeves.
  2. Empire line with pleats or not too much material.
  3. A line dresses are always a great idea.

BRA

The biggest investment anyone can make in the overall look is to wear a proper fitting bra. As seen by programmes like Off the rails, 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra. A proper fitting bra changes your whole shape and how clothes look on you. Straps too tight cause back rolls, not to mention underarm skin, backache and poor posture.

Want to wear dresses, but you have curvy thighs or not too happy with your legs - opaque tights are great for colour and warmth. Number above 60 Den for evening look. Don’t like your legs: go for 100 Den black tights and black shoes. Always wear your clothes, don’t let them wear you!
